Day 2 – TBD: Athens & Cape Sounion Temple of Poseidon

Includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

After a good night’s sleep and breakfast, we’ll take a morning tour of Athens, named after Athena - protector of female wisdom. This tour includes an overview of the modern city and striking contrasts to the remains of its glorious past such as the Royal Palace, the Panathenian Stadium, Temple of Zeus, and Hadrians Arch. We continue to the crowning glory that was Athens, the Acropolis; which reveals architectural masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens, the Propylae, Temple of Athena Nike, Erechtheion, and the "harmony between material and spirit, the Parthenon. We will also tour the Acropolis Museum.

Next, visit the Ancient Agora which was the commercial, trading, administrative and social center of Athens. Walk in the footsteps of ancient philosophers such as Socrates, Sophocles, and Aristotle, who spent much time here expressing their deepest thoughts and ideas. Then venture off the beaten path to:

The Academy of Plato: The ruins are rudimentary, but the newly founded Museum of Plato near the park will give you a beautiful and interactive reconstruction of the Academy. This Museum (opened in 2017) is entirely different; it is digital, interactive, and multimedia, fully dedicated to Plato and his work. In the Allegory of the Cave, where the visitor can actually take the place of a prisoner in the cave, restricted in his / her movements and vision, the visitor can understand how the prisoner felt before reaching the real light of Philosophy and the understanding of the Platonic Form of the Good. Next, we visit.

The Lyceum of Aristotle: the most illustrious of Plato’s students who studied in the Academy for twenty years. The Lyceum borders the tranquil and beautiful gardens of the Museum of Byzantine Art. Few ruins remain, but you can sense the essence of Aristotle, which prompts deep philosophical contemplation.

In the afternoon, enjoy a scenic drive as we wind our way along the coastal cliffs and beaches to Cape Sounion, dominated by the spectacular Temple of Poseidon on the Aegean Sea. The Temple of Poseidon, first mentioned in Homer’s Odyssey, is surrounded in myth and mystery, perched on the craggy rocks above Cape Sounion. Dolphins were sacred to the ‘God of the Sea’ and Delphin (also known as Delphinus) the Greek god of Dolphins, worked in the service of Poseidon and persuaded the sea nymph Amphitrite to marry Poseidon. The constellation Delphinus represents the King of the Dolphins, and the dolphin is the national animal of Greece.

Return to Athens for dinner and overnight at Royal Olympic Hotel.

Day 3 – TBD: Day trip to Mycenae and Epidaurus

Includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Drive along the coastal road of the Saronic Gulf to Mycenae, situated on a small hilltop on the lower slopes of Euboea Mountain. Mycenae is best known in mythology as the city of Agamemnon. King Agamemnon led the expedition against Troy during the Trojan War, which Homer accounted for in his epic poem, the Iliad. Explore the remains of the ancient city, including the Lioness Gate, the tomb of Agamemnon, and the Palace.

Lunch will be in the charming coastal town of Nafplion. Afterward, visit The Sanctuary of Asclepius at Epidaurus, the most celebrated healing center of the ancient world.  Asclepius, son of Apollo, was the God of Medicine and Healing. His symbol, a staff with a serpent wrapped around it, called the Caduceus, is still used today as the symbol of pharmacies. The outdoor theater is world-famous for its remarkable acoustics.

Return to Athens via the Epidaurus / Corinth Road Royal Olympic Hotel

Day 4 – TBD: Meteora

Includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Your journey continues as you depart for Western Thessaly in central Greece to visit one of the most amazing places in Greece, the unique monasteries of Meteora. The Greek word Meteora means "suspended in the air.” The conglomerate rock at Meteora has eroded into fantastic rock towers upon which medieval monks built incredible monasteries. The isolated monasteries of Meteora helped keep Greek Orthodox religious traditions and Hellenic culture alive during the turbulent Middle Ages. In 1988, UNESCO declared Meteora to be a World Heritage Site. In the afternoon, you will visit some of these amazing monasteries with your guide.

Day 5 – TBD: Delphi

Includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

This morning, enjoy a scenic drive to visit the mystical and breathtaking site of Delphi, believed to be the “navel” (omphalos) of the world. First visit The Temple of Apollo, where his most famous oracle, Pythia, was located. Dolphins were sacred to Apollo as this was how he established his oracle: by taking on the guise of a dolphin, leaping aboard a Cretan ship, and forcing the crew to serve him and build his temple. The most famous of these accounts were told by “Homer in his Hymn of Apollo.”

Then visit the Delphi Museum full of masterpieces, all of them “ex votos” (images produced as a sign of thanks for an answered prayer or favor granted) of the pilgrims who came to consult the Oracle. The pride of the museum is the bronze “Charioteer,” one of the finest examples of classical sculpture.

Below the Temple of Apollo is the Temple of Athena Pronaia, which served to welcome visitors who came to Delphi from the east. The sanctuary consisted of several buildings built on a terrace overlooking a valley of olive trees. There were temples and treasuries but the most unique structure was the circular tholos.

Day 6 – TBD: Delphi

Includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Early this morning, return to the Temple of Apollo with your guide before the main tourist crowds arrive for some personal time for meditation and journaling. Consider this a pilgrimage as you Follow the Sacred Way up to Apollo’s Temple, where his oracle priestess delivered her oblique prophecies. Marvel at the beauty of the landscape and consider the never-ending search of mortal people for truth and the true meaning of life.

Afterward, visit the Temple of Athena for some personal time here to connect on a deeper level with the energy of the ancient Goddess, held in the highest esteem as the Goddess of Knowledge and Wisdom.

Your afternoon is free to enjoy lunch at one of the local restaurants and explore Delphi town. Take some time to relax by the pool at the hotel and enjoy the beautiful mountain views.

Day 7 – TBD: Levadia and flight to Crete

Includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

After breakfast begin your drive back to Athens with a stop in the village of Levadia, where another famous oracle was located in a small cave, the Oracle Of Trophonius (meaning nourisher of the mind) was a famous hero who was able to channel the Greek god Apollo. Whoever wished to consult the oracle would live in a designated house and bathe in the river Herkyna, outside the cave. Herkyna was the daughter of Trophonius, a beautiful Water Nymph and friend of Persephone.

Continue back to Athens airport for your afternoon flight to Greece’s largest Aegean island – Crete, home of the ancient Minoan culture. Crete enchants and seduces the senses of everyone who visits with its wild natural beauty, vivacious spirit, rich cultural history, and its warm, friendly people.

“The mystery of Crete runs deep. Whoever sets foot on this island senses a mysterious force coursing warmly and beneficently through their veins, sensing their Soul beginning to grow,” wrote Nikos Kazantzakis, Crete’s most celebrated author. Upon arrival, check into your lovely all-inclusive beach resort accommodations and relax.

Day 8 – TBD: Palace of Knossos, Paliani Convent

Includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Morning visit to Knossos, the most famous Minoan Palace of Knossos, and a sacred ceremonial center. Marvel at the advanced architecture and view the world-famous "Dolphin Fresco." The Minoan civilization is where the first representations of dolphins appear, showing the importance that Minoans attributed to dolphins. Dolphins have also been depicted in ancient Greek pottery pieces, seals, coins, and mosaics. In the Homeric hymn to Dionysus, we see how ancient Greeks explained the jovial and intelligent nature of dolphins and their love for humans. According to this hymn, dolphins were once men, transformed into dolphins by God Dionysus.

At Knossos, the Minoan Snake Goddess was discovered, bare-breasted and proud, possessing the ancient wisdom of the serpent. Walking through the complex multi-storied buildings, one can comprehend why the Palace of Knossos was associated with the mythological labyrinth, which was the dwelling place of the Minotaur in Greek mythology.

After lunch, we experience a pilgrimage to the small convent at Paliani to ask for a blessing from the 1000-year-old Sacred Myrtle Tree. Many spontaneous healings and miracles have been witnessed standing at this tree.

Paliani Monastery is one of the oldest monasteries in Crete, and this specific myrtle tree is considered sacred “Holy Myrtle.” Inside the trunk of the Holy Myrtle is believed to be the icon of Panagia Mirtidiotissa, “Virgin Mary of Myrtle”.

Return to the beach resort for dinner and overnight.

Day 9 – TBD: Day trip to Rethymno and Melidoni Cave

Includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The third-largest settlement on the Greek island of Crete is the quaint port town of Rethymno, which has been occupied since the Late Minoan period. Enjoy a guided tour through the Venetian and Ottoman-era old town, a knot of narrow, flower-bedecked lanes overlooked by a fortified Venetian castle. This place oozes history and character. A series of sandy beaches stretch out along the coastline to the east.

After lunch return to the Womb of the Mother and visit the Melidoni Cave. The Cave has been

inhabited almost continuously since the Stone Age, and during the Minoan times, the cave was used for religious ceremonies. This amazing cave is easy to access by a few steps down into the cave, opening into a large hall filled with beautiful stalagmites and stalactites.

After spending some time in this excellent earth energy space, return to your resort for dinner and overnight.

Crete is also one of the biggest wine producers, a tradition dating back to the Minoan civilization. Learn how they make some of the world's best olive oil, cheese, fresh fruits and vegetables. Let the locals show you how to be a farmer for a day.
